Ask Someone Who's Been There

I interviewed Rob McAsey. He is a bail agent and he has been for the last fourteen years. He choose his occupation because he needed extra money. Financially it lets him live the way he wants to live. A reward that he has experienced being a bail agent is lots of excitment but sacrifices he makes are losing a lot of sleep and working 24 hours a week. I learned if you work as a bail bond you have to have a bail liscense and you have to be very committed. Rob had 8 hours of contin education each year. He has a lot of energy in his job because he loves it and he knows how to manage his sleep time. He has to be very organized because he needs to know where files, records, and bail agreements are. If Rob had to do it over agian he said he would choose this career agian because it is a fun and exciting job.

Lacy Lucchetti is a realestate agent. She has been working as a realestate agent for three years. Lacy choose her job because she wanted an opputunity to make better money. Her job doesn't let her live the way she wants financially because currently the market isn't good. Since her job doesn't pay as good as she wants she said if she works harder, put in more hours, and had more advertising she would get paid better. She has experienced many rewards though. Some rewards are good money and giving home buyers their keys to their new homes. She has sacrificed time away from her family because she sometimes works hours outside of monday through friday and eight a.m. to 5 p.m. If you want to be a realestate agent you need a realesate liscense through the state and a high school diploma. You also have to learn to jugle your clients and keep them happy at all times. You have to be very organized and you have to complete all files. Lacy said if she had to do it over again she would do the same job because she can make her own hours and as much money as she wants.

My mom, Stasi Carr, is an Insurance Agent. She has worked as one for twenty years. She choose her occupation because she needed a job. She started as a file girl and then got a liscense to sell insurance. Financially, her job lets her live the way she perfers. Two rewards that she has experienced are dealing with the public and helping people save money on insurance. Some sacrifices she has made are working a lot of hours and always having big challanges every day. To be an Insurance agent my mom had to have a high school degree and an Insurance Agent/Broker License. During work she must be patient accurate and through to keep her patients happy. She also must be very organized. She needs to be able to pull up someones file fast. If she had to do it over again she said she would still be an Insurance Agent because its never boring and she always busy.

After interviewing Rob, Lacy, and my mom I realized that if you do what makes you happy you will have a good life. All three of them love their job and wouldn't want to change anything about it. Lacy taught me that even if your job doesn't financially fight your needs you should still do it if you love it and work harder everyday so it will. Rob taught me that being something that has excitment pays off and never makes you bored. My mom taught me that if you have good energy then you can make people and clients at your work happy. All three of them are organized. It's a big part of their jobs and any other job. They need to know right where their files are and all their papers they did. Interviewing Lacy, Rob, and my mom make me want to find a good job that I love so I'll have a good, fun life.

The 6 E's of Excellence

To excel in your life you need the six E's of Excellence. If you have high standards and unusual efforts you will have excellence. Excellence requires you to be willing to work and to have ongoing commitment. If you have excellence you will be respected and you will feel statisfied with yourself.

Expectations
If you expect to be happy and sucessful you have a better chance of achieving your goals instead of the people who think it's not going to happen and don't expect to be sucessful. If you expect failure or a poor outcome that is probably what is going to happen. You should think positive about getting to wear you want to be and gaining excellence. You can't limit your expectations because it will be harder to excel.

Enthusiasm
Having enthusiasm is a good way to excel. If you love what your doing your enthusiasm will probably show more than some one who hates their job and what they do. If you want to be something but instead get another job you wont do as good in the job your doing than the one you wanted to do. If you do the job you want to do then you will probably be really good at it. Even if you don't like your job at the moment and you want a promotion or a change in it, having enthusiasm is still good to help you excel and get the job you were waiting for.

Energy
Energy is a big part of Excellence. You need energy to excel and get the job's done. You cannot be lazy to if you want to excel. If you are enthused about your job then you will most likely have energy and want to go do it. If you do not like your job you will probably not want to get out of bed in the morning and you will probably not be happy when you get there and not do any work. If you don't have any energy and you need to do work it is best to get the work done before you do anything else because then you don't have to worry about doing your work all day while your doing what you want to do.

Enterprise
You need to have a lot of enterprise to excel. Enterprise is working hard and taking calculated risks. You have to be adventerous and you have to know what to do in problem and how to handle it. You also need to know how to recognize problems and opportunities and to make the best of either situation.

Efficiency
Efficiency is really important. You need to be very efficent and on task. If your organized, gets things accomplished on time, and you have control of your life it will be easier to excel. If you are not organized you can lose stuff, not turn in projects on their due dates, and lose your career. If you are a car mechanic or a plumber you need to know where your tools are. Also if you are a docter you really need to be organized. If you are operating on a patient you should know where your tools are. If you are not organized you will not make it far in your job.

Ethics
You need to know what is right and what is wrong. You need to be able to stand-up for your beliefs and do what is right. Sometimes saying what you belive isn't efficent or easy and sometimes you can lose a friend from it but it's usually necessary. You have your own ethics. This is a part in your life that no one else but you can control. You should always do what your conscience says, it is never right to betry your conscience.

The six E's of Excellence is really important if you want to excel and have people respect you. You can go a long way in life if you use the six E's. In your life you should always to what you love. If you don't like your job then quit. You should'nt waste your time not doing what you love and not having excellence. If you follow the six E's you are most-likly going to excel.

Margaret Mead Quote

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world; inded it's the only thing that ever has."

Margaret Mead (1901-1978), American Anthropoligist

I think this quote is true but not always. Small groups of committed citizens are not the only people that have changed the world. Many ciztens by themselves have changed the world in many ways. A lot of small groups of citizens have done most of the bad and good things that have changed the world, but Albert Einstein changed the world all by him self.

Eleanor Roosevelt Quote

"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent"

-Eleanor Roosevelt

I agree with Eleanor Roosevelt's quote because its true, no one can make you feel lower without you agreeing to it and letting them. If you dont want people to make you feel inferior you shouldn't listen to them when they say stuff to make you feel low. This quote is also saying you should stick up for yourself and when some one is saying something mean or somthing that would make you feel inferior you should say something.

My Ideal Self

My Ideal self would be an interior designer but when I have kids I'll be a stay at home mom and I would be married to a really nice husband. I would have six or seven kids. I want one girl and all the rest boys. I would live in the middle of no where in a big white house. There would be a porch going all the way around my house and a pond behind it. My ideal self would have 3 trucks and a corvette. I would have a big sunflower field and vineyards behind my house. When all my kids move out or grow up I'll get a job as an interior designer. I'll work until I'm too old to get up a stair case and then I'll retire and move to Hawaii.

Teenagers

  • What are some positive aspects of being a teenager? A positive aspect about being a teenager is that you are more grown up and mature and people treat you like an adult.
  • What are some negative aspects of being a teenager? A negative aspect about being a teenager is you get in trouble more and your parents don't want you to go bad so they protect you alot.
  • What are some major concerns of today's teenagers? Today, alot of teenagers smoke weed and do really bad drugs.
  • Are they much different from the concerns of teenagers of past generations? How? Yes, teenagers from past generations didn't smoke weed. They worked and they were good kids.
  • What is some advice you would give to the young people who will soon be teenagers? Advice I would give to the young people who will soon be teenagers is not to smoke or do drugs.

Trust

1) List 5 people you trust completely:
  • Niki
  • Chuck
  • Kyle
  • Samantha
  • Kelly
2) What is it about these people that makes you feel that they will make their commitment to you a priority?
They all know everything about me and they don't back stab me. I don't tell their secrets and they trust me so I think they will make their commitment to me a priority.

3) How many people do you think you trust completely? Why?
I trust 5 people completely because most people are back stabbers and liars.

4) What is it about you that shows these people that you are someone who places a high priority on being trustworthy?
I never tell any of their secrets and I make sure they dont tell mine because I tell them alot of things I dont want any one to know so it shows them that I place a high priority on being trustworthy.

5) What if you've made some mistakes and people think you can't be trusted? What can you do to prove to them that you've changed and deserve another chance?
If I made some mistakes and people thought they couldn't trust me I would apoligize and let them see that I know I did something wrong and I can keep secrets.

Friends

1) Friends are one of the best things in the world.
2) My best friend is Niki.
3) Friendship is a really good thing to have.
4) We all need friends because everyone needs some one sometime.
5) Having a friend is fun.
6) I trust friends because they arn't back stabbers.
7) To be a friend is to be truthful.
8) When I talk about my best friend I say nice things.

One Step At A Time

Like Sally, you may be facing a number of situations that make you uncomfortable or afraid. Some of them may even tempt you to give up your dream. List five or six fears you have or situations you are avoiding.

1) Not having enough money.
2) Not being able to have a deisal truck.
3) Not being able to find a good husband.
4) Not being healthy.
5) Not having kids.

Which of these do you think would be easiest for you to overcome? Which would be hardest? List agian, starting with the situation that causes you the least anxiety and working toward the item that makes you feel most uncomfortable.

The easiest to overcome would be not having a deisal truck because I dont need to have it. The hardest would be not being healthy because I would be really sick and could die.

Least anxiety-Most anxiety
1) Not being able to have a deisal truck.
2) Not being able to find a good husband.
3) Not having enough money.
4) Not having kids.
5) Not being healthy.

Think of a plan you can use to confront the first two items on your list. Write your plan below :

I can help the enviroment and keep it clean so more deisal doesn't ruin the earth. I can make sure the man I marry is who I want to marry and isn't abusive or mean.

Family Support

My family is very supportive of me. Being "first in the family" and "not thinking I deserve it" does not apply to me. My family belives in what I want to do and not what they want to do. They dont push me to do something I dont like. They all want my dreams to come true no matter what and they all want what's best for me.

They Did It In Spite Of....

Jim Abbott, a one-handed pitcher, won 12 baseball games in his rookie season with the California Angels.

Helen Keller, world-famous author and lecturer, was blind and deaf from birth.

Eric Clapton, rock guitarist, was abonded by his mother as an infant.

My thoughts on these three people who all have accomplished great things and overcame all their problems are that they are all heros to many people around the world. All three of these people did what they loved to do even though they were disabled in a different way.

Whats Your Excuse

I'm a woman.
I'm white.
I'm not smart enough.
I'm lazy.
I read number's backwords.

I wouldn't use these excuses because they will not help me in life and they will not make me go far. I might be able to use the excuse "I read number's backwords" because I do and it might be hard to do some math or something.

"Dreams"- Langston Hughes

Hold Fast To Dreams
Langston Hughes

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen snow with.

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams are forgotten
Life is a black hole
In the middle of no where.

This poem is a very true poem. Dreams are a big part of everyones lives and you should believe in your dreams all the time. I think that this poem "Dreams" is very touching and many people will agree with it.

Quotes

It's good to have money and the things money can buy, but it's good too, to check once in a while and make sure that you haven't lost the things that money can't buy.
-George Horace Lorimer

I think this quote is about when you get a good paying job or when you get alot of money it's nice to spend it but you shouldn't forget about all the things that money can't buy like love and family.

I'd rather have roses on my table than diamonds on my neck.
-Emma Goldman

I think Emma Goldman means she would rather have something that means something to her than have something that means nothing.

Poverty

Many people in the United States are poor. Most people who are poor in the U.S. are women, children, and elderly. To make sure you will not become poor in the future you should think about many things. For example, women are not paid as much as men and if a woman doesnt have a husband it is hard for her to live by herself. You should assume that your going to have to support yourself. You shouldnt think that someone else is going to support you. You should also be prepared to work and live on your on. Doing these things can prevent poverty. I think another big way to prevent poverty is marrying and working together to pay the bills.

What do you think contributes to poverty in this country?
People not working and dropping out of college contributes to this country.

What might cause you to become one of these statistics?
Dropping out of high school, getting a divorce or not getting married, and depending on someone else to support you are all ways that might cause you to become one of these statistics.

How can you prevent that from happening?
To prevent poverty from happening you can finish high school, go to college, get a good job, and depend on yourself not anyone else.

Three Wishes

Wish #1:
You Can Go Anywhere In Time

If I could go anywhere in time I would want to go back in time when I was five. When I was five everything was fun and I always had something to do. Everything was really big to me and I didnt care about anything. Everyone was always happy and I didnt have to go to school. I also want to go back to when I was five because I dont remember anything when I was that age and I want to see how it was and what fun experiences I had.

Wish #2:
You Can Be Anybody In The World For 24 Hours.

If I could be anybody in the world for 24 hours I would be Taylor Swift because she has a really fun life. She is really nice and she can drive. She sings her songs in front of people at a concert every night and everyone likes her. She is probably the only famous person who everyone likes and who doesnt act famous. Also, Taylor Swift is really tall and I want to be really tall.

Wish #3: You Have The Power To Fix Something In The World Today.

If I could change anything in the world today I would change the prices of gas. The price of gas is really high because gas is running out but if we all looked around of oil then maybe we could find more and we could lower the price. I do not want to drive a hybrid car. I want to drive a diesal truck and it is almost impossible to do.

"Ivy Elms"

The story "Ivy Elms" is about a young reporter named Ralph Tuttle who interviews the highest paid executive in the world, Ivy Elms. Ivy tells Ralph about her job and how she revolved her life around it. She explained to Ralph how working alot and hard all the time can make you miss a big part of life and make you wonder about what could have been. When Ralph is done interviewing Ivy he starts to think about if he would want to make that commitment to his job and work so hard he doesnt have time for family or friends.

I think that this story is a good story and it makes you think about important things. Ivy helps you understand what happens when money and being at the top is all that matters to you. When I got done reading "Ivy Elms" I thought about if I could make that commitment like Ivy Elms did. This story made me look at jobs a whole different way and make me want my family to come first before my job because Ivy Elms seems lonely.
